I paid $300+ (twice!) to repair this problem before I found out about the simple fix. I just had to do the fix tonight because I was getting the same problem for the third time in the 3 years and 3 months I've owned my iBook. A more suspicious person would suspect there was a design flaw with the iBook G4 that lead to logic board failures. But Apple says there is no design flaw, and in Apple I trust. They wouldn't lie to me, right? Right?

And of course this happens Friday evening, when I'm leaving for Netbackup training on Sunday. Whee! A week in Ft. Lauderdale... during summer. The real question is am I registered? We signed me up on Tuesday (our backups are in desperate need of work), but niether I nor my team lead who put the course charge on his corporate card recieved the confermation e-mail.
